Play page 5 - all

Frog, Middle, Tip Bow exercise (see page 14, top box) - on all strings
Going from Highest string, down to lowest string
Then from Lowest string, up to highest string
*Make sure to watch bow arm level (see page 15, top box)

R:
Focus on placing fingers on the tapes, 1 2 3

Z:
Added 1st fingers today

Play Pages 6-10
Focus on fingers on the correct tapes

Focus on bending thumb of plucking hand (Make the "C" shape with the fingers)

Use flashcards to help learn the notes
Both:

Bow Game - "Frog, Middle, Tip" on all strings
Try from E down to G, then G up to E
Keep bow straight along the strings at each check point
Try to make the bow travel straight in the air between each check point

Everyone:

Reference "Curved Fingers" Sheet handed out in class today for L-hand Technique

Watch the DVD Section 3: Setting up the Right hand with a Pencil (see p. 11).  Stop the DVD before the bow hold on the bow section.  Bring pencil to class (put it in your case).  We will be doing a bowing exercise with the pencil using good bow hold.  (Rabbit Hold).

Practice bow hold on pencil.  (Page 11 of book)
Practice bow hold on violin bow.  (Page 12 of book)
Make sure to have "Rabbit" hold.  Curved pinky, sits on top of bow stick.  Bend thumb.

Rosin bow by holding rosin in Left hand, arm placed as if you are holding the violin in playing position.  Draw the bow across the rosin, making sure to keep the rosin still, and move the bow straight across the rosin.

Practice Frog, Middle, Tip with the bow on the A-String.  Keep the bow traveling straight as you draw the bow through the air.

Review songs in book.
